Upgrades can increase the value of armors, weapons and rings. Upgrades also increase bonuses such as crit chance and PvE Damage.

The cost of upgrading an item is determined by the item's level. The cost increases with the item's level.

Components

Upgrade components can be incorporated into trinkets, weapons and armor in order to give them a boost in stats or add a bonus effect. They can be acquired through crafting, buying from vendors trading, or looting. Some upgrades have special cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can only be used on devices that have slots. The item must be at least upgraded to blue before the component can be used. Unlike other mods, upgrade components can only be used once; they cannot be applied multiple times or replaced by new upgrades. Infusions and enrichments are a type of upgrade component that is used to upgrade non-amulet legendary and Ascended equipment, as well other items that are not ascended. Infusions and enrichments can be recovered by salvaging gear from the ascended, or completing an elite mission in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.

The process of upgrading an item can be costly and it's possible that the item will become obsolete or even break in the event that the upgrade is unsuccessful. Upgrade Crystals and assist powders are also destroyed when an upgrade fails. Cash shop items can be used to minimize or eliminate the possibility of failure. Some upgrades also offer an additional bonus when reinserted.

Glyphs

Glyphs can be used to improve the Paragon Board by placing them in sockets with special functions. Glyphs can boost the performance of nodes within a radius, including any pre-existing attaches. Glyphs are upgraded in various ways, and we suggest upgrading them to 15 levels whenever you can.

It is commonplace to see in the endgame that placing Glyphs is a great method to upgrade your gear. Leveling

The system of upgrading items lets players increase the stats of certain items by placing upgraded components inside them. This is referred to as "upping". Every upgradeable item has an amount that determines its final upgraded stats. Upgraded items can be leveled until they reach a maximum level of 385 ilvl. Each item level requires various components, and the cost of upgrading increase with each level.

Some upgrades require a special ingredient to activate. This ingredient is obtained from finishing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes are available in the upgrade tab of a crafting table, or purchased from some NPCs. Each Upgrade Recipe that is completed earns some Technology Points. These points can be used to level the item, and once enough points have been earned, the upgrade will be claimed and the additional bonuses will be added to the item.

When a player upgrades an item to a higher level, the original item is replaced with a new item of the same kind. The same armor will receive an weapon or shield when upgraded. The new item comes with its own set bonus. This can be a downside, as the item can be more expensive even if you do not require it.

Item upgrades can sometimes be rerolled, provided that the player has enough tokens to be able to do so. The item will be replaced by the same item, but it is based on a level 1 base and totally different bonuses. This can be beneficial however it should not be repeated often since it could waste resources.

Some upgrades can increase their value and allow players to personalize their gear. Dolphin's Gift is a good example, as it provides buffs when the player continuously enters or exits the water. The player can continue to use their weapon or armor even after the failure.

If an Best item upgrade is upgraded the upgrades are applied from the lowest to the highest. The amount of resources required to upgrade an item is determined on the rarity rating and the number of upgrade slots. The cost of upgrading non-premium equipment is equal to its base value.
